Welcome to the online home of Carla E. Anderton. Ms. Anderton is a writer, editor, arts administrator and, above all, strives on a daily basis to be a decent human being. Some days, she is even successful.
In recent news, Anderton graduated from Seton Hill University with an M.F.A. in Writing Popular Fiction on January 11, 2012. At the graduation ceremony, she gave the commencement address, the text of which is accessible on her blog, Take Any Bird and Let It Out of a Cage.
Anderton’s thesis novel The Heart Absent is a historical horror/suspense novel about Jack the Ripper in love. When asked, she describes it as “Pygmalion gone horribly wrong.” For more information about her writing, visit her “About” page.
In other news, in October 2011 Anderton was honored to present at an international conference on Jack the Ripper at Drexel University. The video of her speech, entitled “Our Continuing Fascination with the Ripper”, is available via Microsoft Silverlight along with the slides from her accompanying multimedia presentation: “Our Continuing Fascination with the Ripper” (Anderton’s talk begins at roughly 47:00, but be sure to view the outstanding presentations given prior to hers by noted Ripperologist Christopher T. George and Professor John Curra.)
When not writing or speaking, Anderton’s home away from home is the Jozart Center for Arts, where she is President of the Board of Directors. She is proud to report the organization was awarded 501(c)(3) status in late 2011, an effort she helped spearhead.
